In simultaneous bombings bearing the hallmarks of international terrorists, two explosions ripped through crowds watching the World Cup final in two places in Uganda’s capital late Sunday, killing 64 people, police said. One American was killed and several were wounded.

The deadliest attack occurred at a rugby club as people watched the game between Spain and the Netherlands on a large-screen TV outdoors. The second blast took place at an Ethiopian restaurant, where at least three Americans were wounded.

One American was killed in the blasts, said Joann Lockard, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Embassy in Kampala.

Kampala’s police chief said he believed Somalia’s most feared militant group, al-Shabab, could be responsible for the attack. Al-Shabab is known to have links with al-Qaida, and it counts militant veterans from the Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan conflicts among its ranks….

  1. The sad Alshabaab attacks in Kampala can only underly the troubled and often hidden relations between Muslim and African worlds. The defamatory words about africans allegedly from islamic extremists aired in Aljezeera TV recently is just the tip of the iceberg. The highlighting of historical clashes that resulted in the annexations of nothern africa countries by arabs is the hallmark of the brutal attack by Islamic extremists in Uganda. If that is the case it is clear that the whole of africa is not safe from islamic extremists and as such africa needs to prepare for the inevitable, that the once covert war with Islamic insurgents is now overt, insulting and unfortunate. Suddenly islamic terrorism and genocide has moved from northern states, Darfu and the horn of africa to the rest of the continent and like before africa must step up its defences and advance to protect and reclaim its interests in the continent

    1. Uganda, Nigeria,South Africa and a number
of other Sub-Saharan African countries have
a long history of indigenous Islamic communities
who at varying times have wound up in conflict
fora number of reasons. The Somalian attacks
were actually NATIONALISTIC and part of a strategy
to have Uganda withdraw from Western Colonialist Chistian
Support in providing U.N. Troops to reinforce European
      control of Somalia.

  2. We are aware of the invading history of Islam in north africa and few converted communities in the subsahara africa are the beginning of such colonisation. Islamic annexation of africa has always been three-pronged, firstly the misleading shared missions or disguised interests in the name of common brotherhood, secondly the forced marriages of african women through poligamy whilst prohibiting similar marriages of muslim women by unislamicised african men and thirdly the taking of african lands and heritages by sword if islamicisation failed. But Islamic colonisation of africa had at the initial phases been subtle and the attack of Alsabaab of african lands like Uganda, threat to Burundi and instigation of civil strife in Nigeria in order to sow divisions amongst africans to enable the islamic takeover is unacceptable. Africa has always been opposing Western and Arabic colonisations and their various shinanigans and the revival of africa and its culture will not be held at ransom by foreign intrests. Whilst the autonomy of africa lands and its spirituality has always been the basis of freedom fighting, africa cannot tolerate undemocratic tendencies and disregard of the rule of law and this is what Somalia and the rest of the world need in order to instil respect for the will of the people. Alsabaab extremits are opposed to one person one vote in Somalia in order to impose its unaccountable philosophy in the horn of africa and that despotism, like colonisation itself, cannot be accepted to the whole of democratic africa and any means necessary muts be imployed to promote free and fair elections anywhere in the continent. One would therefore support increase of african troops to bolster the african democratic traditions in all deserving countries including Somalia and Sudan, and that can only support the betterment of humanity, unity and peace. The genuine nationalists best thrive in democratic dispensation where the will and the welfare of the electorates are their suprem concerns, so must Somalians.

  3. meekahaefele masooa ,
You have to go back and carefully
study the great work of Blyden:Christianity,Islam and the
Negro Race. Blyden who refers to himself as a:
True Son of the Ebo(Igbo)Race eloquently explains why
Islam is more of a natural unifying religion for Africans.
The Great Kingdoms of the Black Moors(Mali’Ghana &
Songhai) were all Muslims. Upon their entry into Africa,
the British declared that BaGanda had the highest order of
civilization in all of Africa. The independent BaGandan Kingdoms
of the Kabakas were all originally Muslim. The ” Democratic
Dispensation” that you speak of is really the European Dispensation
of Exploitation. Unfortunately some Africans are content to forever
remain under the leadership and guidance of Europeans.
Fortunately African-Muslims are boldly taking the lead in fighting
against European Exploitation in Africa. Idi Amin Dada will be forever
remembered because he dared to dream of true independence,
The Europeans could only respond with a propaganda campaign
of slander. Do you really think Idi Amin was a scary Black African
Cannibal who kept frozen body parts in his freezer for Midnight Snacks
(LOL)?? Idi Amin,Elijah Muhammad, the Mahdi of Sudan and perhaps
the Somalian rebels all understood the ingredients for true independence
and international respect. The standard for African equality, respect and
independence can be found in the Black Muslim Moorish Kingdoms

  4. Ishaq your premise is not adressing my main submission. If you look everywhere in islamic worlds you will see strife and conflictsunending. Africa does not need new comer religions for its identity for our african religion has been alive since the creation of humanity itself. So both islam and christian fundamentalist present africa with instability and destruction and for Somalia our interests is in protecting the common people and promoting african values of one person one vote. Any leader who is not elected through a free and fair elections but nominated by selfish minority cannot be respected by genuine africans who aspire for rule by majority. In other words the presence of Ethopian and Ugandan soldiery in somalia is to protect values of democracy. Therefore one will like to see increase of african soldiers in hot spot of islamic extrimism in order to ensure the rule of law and accountability of rulers to their citizens.

Remember african democratic principle that says ‘ morena ke morena ka batho’ and further ‘lentseo la morena le ahelwa lesaka’ In short it means there is no ruler without the will of the people, conversly the welfare of the majority is the supreme law of any ruler. That means democracy, like faith itself, is the brain child of africa and not an aberation from the west as Ishaq seems to suggest. Many good things comes out of africa and only to be twisted with lies in final analysis and we are putting the record straight and we will allow noone to spread subterfuge about africa with impunity.

  5. meekahaefele masooa,
Are the Ethiopian and Ugandan soldiers in Somalia
because of a consesus based on their respective tribal cultures and values
or are they their because of a European led United Nations which finds them a
convenient tool to reinforce European control and exploitation of Somalia?
Remember the concept that democracy is the ONLY legitimate type of governing
system is RECENT European propaganda. Although some African cultures did
have their own traditional forms of “Democracy” others clearly rejected this.
The powerful BaGandan(Uganda) Monarchy were always ruled by the KABAKA,
while Ethiopians(Amhara) were traditionally governed by the Solomonic Dynasties.
These governments had their checks and balances but they did NOT rule by Demmocracy. Africans followed varying forms of governments in respect to tribe,
region and or nation. This of course is a credit to the individuality and mosaic of
African history and thought. To generalize all of African history with the Greedy universal,
One World Democracy is limiting the image of independent and original African
thought. It is also a poor attempt to jusify those who are really content to remain
under European control in the name of “Democracy” . Islam is relatively more recent
than some of the ancient African tribal religions. However it just as ancient and
indigenous to the African as it is for the “Arab”. The first Muslim under the Prophet
Muhammad to sound the Adhan(Prayer Call) was an Ethiopian named Bilal. Therefore
Islam is a legitimate part of the indigenous identity just as the Solomonic Culture of
Ethiopia belongs to Africa as well. Yes, true Democracy has a role in Africa but it
must be implemented without European controls, objectives and exploitation!
Drive the U.N out of Africa and the British out of Zimbabwe and Nigeria.

  6. Ishaq you always do not adress my submision point by point. I stated that African democracy was a way of life. Therefore genuine african states, pre-islam and pre-christian colonisations, have always practiced democracy in a systemetic and organised way. Just like african orthodox religion the african democratic values were disrupted and distorted by arrival of islam in Kamit Israel, Nubia and other northren african states and later by christians in crusades to dominate the world resources. It was only those colonised african states that neo-religions (Islam and Christianity) made a dent and some states lost their democratic values and Both / Ubuntu. Due to advanced civilzation of africa (year 6000 BC and beyond ) from Kamit Israel to South Sahara Africa governments democratic values of ‘the king is king because of the people’ for example has always been established. I would like Ishaq to study histories of pre-Islamic, pre-African colonisations, pre-hinduism, pre-judaism, pre-budism, ‘pre-anysm’ and compare advances of various religions and their originality and you will see african civilisation, religion and state administrations predates and surpass the rest in regard age and duration and this was a defining feature to the realim of civilised world.

My point is that due to new warring religions (islam and christianity) failure to bring humanity together and each aspiring world domination at the expense of the other(s) particularly in north africa and middle east, genuine africans must stop terror islamic groups like Alshabab from killing spree seen in Somalia, Uganda and Sudan. In the name of restoring peace and african hegemony on her own lands we have no choice but to restore and defend our precious assets, the land and cultural values of africans, by any means necessary in a civilised humanity.

  7. In addressing your first point of submission about
“African Democracy”. I have to disagree since there are
examples of long standing monarchies such as the
Kabaka of BaGanda and the Solomonic Dynasties
of Shoa and Aksum. The British referred to the
BaGanda as having the highest order of civilization
in all of Africa, while Hebrewisims of West Africa
accredits the BaGanda with having a long line of
Kings tracing back to King David. Both the Solomonic &
Royal BaGandan Dynasty are traced back to ancient
Israel. The Israelites were NEVER ruled by Democracy.
On the contrary they were ruled by Priests,Kings and
Prophets who dictated or revealed the will of God Almighty.
In this regard a significant and prominent part of Africa
can trace its governing origins to Dictatorship and Theocracy.
The Solomonic Dynasty and the inaugeration of Menelik
clearly predates the arrival of Islam and Christianity. This fact in itself
negates your generalized statement that pre-Islamic and pre-Christian
African States practiced “Democracy”. Although the presence
of Islam and Christianity in Africa has brought about a certain degree
of intolerance, division and confrontation it cannot be singled out as the
source of problems in Africa. Once again your habit of generalizing
negates your position which within its proper context holds a measure
of truth. This generalization sounds like old European Socialist
propaganda which states that religion has caused most of the wars
throughout history. However when one takes the time to truly reflect it
becomes evident that MOST wars were NOT fought over RELIGION.
There have been wars based on tribalism, politics, economics, land
boundaries and resources etc. I can appreciate your desire and
commitment for African Unity but your tendency to generalize
leads to denial of reality and circumstances which leaves unavoidable
barriers for implementation of unification strategy. Anyone who has
the slightest knowledge about Africa understands the importance of
tribal identity and culture. Tribal identity and culture is very meaningful
to the African because it is so deep and rich in tradition.
Do you forsee the day when a Fulani man will be accepted to lead the
Igbo in deep rooted Igbo tribal ritual cerenmonies or do you believe that
Africans will abandon their tribal roots for the sake of unity? In the same
manner that tribalism is an integral part of Africa, Islam & Christianity
have become an integral part of the African identity. The Mandingo,Hausa
and Fulani are practically 100% Muslim. The majority of Ethiopians are
Muslims. There are massive Muslim populations in Somalia and Sudan.
North Africa is practically 100% Muslim. Do you really think that your rallying call
for ” Genuine Africans ” to stop terror Islamic groups will inspire ” Genuine
Africans” such as the Mandingo,Hausa&Fulani? I think you will find your
greatest supporters with those of European descent such as George Bush
in his ” War on Terror”. Your strategy for Peace and Unity will unfortunately
result in more War and Division.
