Revelations Chapter 8 verses 8 and 9:
“And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood….
And a third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life died; and athird part of ships were destroyed…..”
It has been almost a week now when a massive oil rig belonging to the British Petroleum Corporation (BP) went up in flames and collapsed into the sea taking with it about 13 workers while close to 200 workers managed to escape.
Initially the authorities as well as BP tried to play down the potential magnitude of what had just happened. However, with ever passing day the enormity of the event has surpassed the worst environmental disaster ever occassion by man since the creation of man.
Billions of gallons of heavy crude are leaking out from the Halliburton Corporation built and serviced off-shore drilling and storage installation (owned by BP). Noone knows how this will all play out in the next few days but from all indications so far, it has surpassed the Exxon Valdez oil tanker disaster of 1989.
Creatures are dieing in the sea right now. The gulf coast of the United States from Mississippi to Florida contains one of the world’s most bountiful acquatic life. Shrimps, lobsters, cat fish operations are all facing closure. The wild manatee, the sea gulls, the migrating birds, all are facing the greatest challenge yet posed by the wickedness of inhumanity.
This is big, big news. Katrina, and Haiti, were natural disasters of huge magnitude. This one is a man made disaster biger than huge. It is apocalyptic in its every dimension.

Oil from a massive spill in the Gulf of Mexico oozed into Louisiana’s ecologically rich wetlands Friday as storms threatened to frustrate desperate protection efforts. The White House put a hold on any new offshore oil projects until safeguards are in place to prevent rig explosions like the one that caused the spill.

Faint fingers of oily sheen began reaching the Mississippi River delta late Thursday, lapping the Louisiana shoreline in long, thin lines. Thicker oil was farther offshore. Officials have said they would do everything to keep the Mississippi River open to traffic.
The Coast Guard defended the federal response so far. Asked on all three network television morning shows Friday whether the government has done enough to push oil company BP PLC to plug the underwater leak and protect the coast, Coast Guard Rear Adm. Sally Brice-O’Hara said the response led by the Coast Guard has been rapid, sustained and has adapted as the threat grew.
Brice-O’Hara was also asked on ABC’s “Good Morning America” about the possibility of dispersing chemicals about a mile beneath the surface to break up oil. She replied: “That is a technology that is in new stages. We are working closely with our scientific support from NOAA, and there will be careful scrutiny. But if it has applicability, which we think it does, we want to get that in place very quickly.”
The oil slick could become the nation’s worst environmental disaster in decades, threatening to eclipse even the worst oil spill in U.S. history, the Exxon Valdez, the grounded tanker that leaked 11 million gallons in Alaska’s Prince William Sound in 1989. The sheen measured about 70 miles by 130 miles as of Thursday, and officials expected to update that figure Friday.
It imperils hundreds of species of fish, birds and other wildlife along the Gulf Coast, one of the world’s richest seafood grounds, teeming with shrimp, oysters and other marine life.
“This is a very, very big thing,” David Kennedy, of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, told The Associated Press about the spill. “And the efforts that are going to be required to do anything about it, especially if it continues on, are just mind-boggling.”…………………..

When I saw pictures on TV of the red color on the water, I remembered that someplace in the Bible it spoke of the sea becoming as blood. I looked it up and found Rev. 8:8,9. When the second angel sounded his trumpet sounds exactly like this recent “accident”. Then I looked at what came before and there were hail storms when the first angel sounded his trumpet. I looked on the Internet and read about the recent large hail storms. Yes, I believe we are at the time in History spoken of in Revelations 8.

And what you speak of may be part of another prophecy, but she is quoting scripture that seems to coincide with these direct events. Whether it is coincidence or not the similarity between those verses and what is happening now is apparent. A lot of Christians have gotten this same verse. My sister and I both got this verse almost on the same day and she lives across the ocean from me.
It could very well be a partial fulfillment. I don’t believe it is THE fulfillment because it seems that these verses take place after the “great tribulation” (see Rev. 7:14) But I could be wrong. Also, there are other events that obviously take place before this sea of “blood” that haven’t happened yet.
I believe it’s one of God’s pre-warnings. Like how He handled Pharoah. He showed stronger and stronger signs.

I have a question. Can anybody explain the evidence discovered by many amateur and expert archaeologists such as a long and somewhat petrified boat settled in the mountains of Ararat, the ovarian-sized sulfur chunks in slabs of rock near the dead sea, a ziggurat that is comprised of total ash near the dead sea, the Gulf of Aqaba where there is land underneath that is about a 1000 feet higher than the surrounding underwater land, an Egyptian golden chariot wheel under this same body of water, a horse’s hoof stuck in the sand underwater, a skeleton lodged in debris underwater near the chariot, and Jabal Al Lawz found in Saudi Arabia with a burnt top? I will like to comprehend.
Once again, another diaster has awaken the mouths of those who know just enough about the Bible to be dangerous. The judgment events of Revelation (seals, trumpets and bowls) have clearly not yet occurred. The disasters and disruptions we are observing at this point in the world are just the “beginning of sorrows” (see Matthew 24).
A word of hope. The confidence of the Christian, the believer, lies in a belief in the integrity of God, not a full understanding of the events of Revelation.
