What Africans do inherit from Past and colonialism – by Adama Diallo

We do not know who we are, our identities have been changed said Algerian President Bouteflika stating the consequences of colonialism on Africans.
Once you start talking about civilization and identity most “educated” Africans withdraw with horror as they fear you propose them to go back living under the hut next to a pond.

The image is not forced, many wannabe modern African think we have to kill the “African soul” if we want to grasp the material fruits of western civilization i.e. money, sex, car, drinks, travels etc.

Let me make a small parenthesis, we knew all that before the invasions, physical and mental invasions of African;

– who invented the currencies for commercial operations?
– who invented the marriage; the rites and ceremonies of traditions?
– who invented the carriage, the wheel?
– who invented the beverages?

To all these questions, you have the answer: it is Africans. The paradise described by the bible is in Africa. The Almighty charged Africans to create the civilizations and direct the others like parents direct the child until he can feed himself.

And Africans have entirely fulfilled this mission.

Now, it is Africans who fail by doubting of who they are, and about their mission, they have accept to be mentally invaded by letting invaders show them the way of things: they act as children deprived of everything, taking all their time to cry and saying “of God, why have you decide to punish us”.

Firstly, this shows the lack in our wisdom or education. The almighty is high, very high for our modest queries that’s why our ancestors address themselves to Supremes.

Secondly we share a responsibility in all that have happened in the world. By populating the hearth and generating civilizations all over the world African people have definitely shaped the destiny of the world till to the infinite. Proofs of such can be found in all domains: arts, architecture, sciences, teknics, metaphysics etc…

Thirdly the participation of Africans in all modern events (industrialization, labour, choice and type of production, wars…etc) have been determining for the world fate. Today, one can see how western advocates of abortion, homosexuality, press the rulers of the African continent to adopt their views.

As ancient Egyptians would say, “know thyself”. As Africans, we have to question where we come from, who we are, where we are going to, and what side of the battle we are on, before taking an unknown journey thinking only the destination matters. If you are not wise enough, sometimes you might become very sorry for what you wished for. It is not only the end that matters; the way to get to it does also.
