USAfrica Harvest of Chinua Achebe: 50 Years of the Masterpiece, Things Fall Apart

USAfrica, the multimedia networks and international public policy center based in Houston, Texas, will host its two-day (August 8-9, 2008) inter-disciplinary event on the landmark literary work 'Things Fall Apart.' The novel was published in 1958 by Chinua Achebe, the acclaimed and undisputed father of modern African literature. Event will feature leading scholars on Africa, African literature and scholarship, new voices in the world of writing/literature, public policy executives, leaders in government and communities, book publishers and retailers, teachers, students and librarians, information technology specialists, dramatists and artists.

The short-term objective of the web site is to establish the framework and channels of expressing opinions globally, and to extend it to all prospective democratic elections in the long run. It may be educational for the elected politicians of a given country to learn about the preferences and value choices of people living in faraway places.

Call for Submissions: I-Brations

I-brations: The Africentric Muse-letter, is now accepting submissions from artists of all disciplines that focus on the worldwide Afrikan/Black music experience. I-brations: The Africentric Muse-letter, is a multidisciplinary publication focusing on, from varying directions and dimensions, the exhibition of the total Afrikan World musical experience through electronic/printed media.

Intercultural Diplomacy in Berlin

With more than 30 films, performances, podium discussions, and seminars, this year's theme, will be "Diverse & Together – A Complexion Change". The festival consists primarily of films from Africa, the African Diaspora and other films that deal with the portrayal of various cultural backgrounds and perspectives. The festival offers the opportunity to experience an excellent variety of documentaries and movies in conjunction with an intellectual as well as an artistic program.

Contempocalypse

Contempocalypse by Steve Bandoma. He sews raffia and batting, installs forms in space, performs and sometimes does video art. All this seen together, Steve Bandoma begins to literally fuse, connect and mix media, while he conceptually surfaces the socio-political, the socio-cultural and the socio-economic climates of not locally but globally.

Program for Black International Cinema

Our interest is to establish a constructive contribution to the historic inevitabilities of climate and complexion change in Berlin, Germany, Russia and the European Union, in order to support the people of Berlin and other European societies in adjusting to the present and preparing for future realities of a complexion change, with as few violent and unduly stressful birth pangs as possible. Our project is inspired by the marvelous impetus of former president Nelson Mandela and his supreme ability to contribute to a peaceful transition of South African society from one complexion to many complexions.
