Press Release: I-Brations

Dear Fellow Afrikan/Black Cultural Artist/Music Lover:

Do You Care About Our Music?

I-BrationsThe question is PROFOUND, more so than the first read may give realization to. It’s been talked about and balked about for far too long; we know—or should know—what the problem/s is/are with our music, or, “music,” and need not expound on it. Simply put: How will these problems be addressed, and what SOLUTIONS will be developed and implemented in order to turn the sound around? Only those who truly care will have assessed the totality of these aspects of our cultural reality. And those who are most capable to initiate the fulfillment of the restoration of Afrikan/Black music is the ARTIST.

The publication of WARRIOR SONG by author Djehuti wa Kamau germinated from a deep concern for the direction our music is headed and a decision to take a proactive stance in confronting the music industry’s status quo. Praised as a “must have,” “genius,” “second to none,” “awesome,” and much more, the overwhelming positive response to the book substantiates that wa Kamau’s raised voice was not in solo flight.

Though we believe WARRIOR SONG’S impact will be significant and its place it the literary arts secure, it is only a beginning. We at First Scribe Books, an independent publishing house, in alliance with Better Marketing For Us, are about to embark on a groundbreaking project that without doubt will make heavy waves in the Black Arts World for ages to come and to spaces far and wide. I-brations: The Africentric Muse-letter, is a multidisciplinary publication focusing on, from varying directions and dimensions, the exhibition of the total Afrikan World musical experience through electronic/printed media. It is through this vessel that our commitment to our art through our art will reach a new pinnacle in Black creativity. This is a unique opportunity for a very select group of individuals with the skills and vision necessary to convey, celebrate and continue the heart, soul and wisdom of our heritage through their craft/s.

In addition, I-brations will serve as the arts oasis for like-minded melanated artists to convene, build, and expand the Dark Matter Intelligentsia. We are currently accepting livicated contributors whose original livicated work will illuminate the Afrikan/Black musical experience to the fullest, including but not limited to the following:·Writers (essays, poems, plays, short stories, etc.)·Musicians/Recording Artists/DJs·Visual Artists (paintings, graphics, drawings, etc.)·Photographers·Audiophiles/Music AficionadosThe launching date for the inaugural issue is Sept. 22, 2008, with a Sept. 1, 2008 lifeline for submissions.

I-brations’ operation is strictly on a voluntary basis. The benefits of the digital age will allow I-brations to be electronically distributed at no cost, offering our contributors wide exposure to a significant reading demographic. Limited free hardcopies will be available for contributors, and all rights remain completely that of the artists. We invite you and others you know of merit to contact us at firstscribebooks at yahoo.com to discuss how to be a part of this major artistic vanguard of our cultural movement. YOU are THE SOLUTION, Afrikan artist. If you care, STAND UP!

With Respect,
