Obama's star has not faded at all, contrary to some speculations, it continues to shine bright, but many viewers are deliberately wearing blinkers, and are blinded by hate and anger and cannot see that in reality, we are witnessing one of the most historic presidencies of all time. In two years, Obama has achieved more than most presidents have achieved in four years, despite having to deal with intense opposition, not only from the other party, but also from within his own.

In his latest film, "Minority Report," director Steven Spielberg portrays a policy of "preemptive action" gone wild in the year 2054. But we don't have to peer into the future to see what harm faulty intelligence and the loss of our moral compass can do. U.S. policies during the Cold War furnish many tragic examples. I am writing these words not knowing whether they will reach you, when they will reach you, and whether I shall still be alive when you read them.

It is true that the change of leadership in South Africa which resulted in the widely expected election of Jacob Zuma as new president was greeted with song and dance. This was so especially in the ranks of the former opposition MDC party, the politically disenfranchised and the poor in both Harare and Pretoria.
