THE Nigerian National Assembly building narrowly escaped being gutted by fire yesterday January 14th 2012, following a suspected electrical fault from an air conditioner.

It took the prompt intervention of federal fire fighters with Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation and Julius Berger to stop what eyewitnesses said could have resulted in a major disaster.

The Senate Chamber was directly below the offices where the fire started….
