Genetic Linkages Between West Africa and Ancient Greece:

HLA genes allele distribution has been studied in Mediterranean and sub-Saharan populations. Their relatedness has been tested by genetic distances, neighbour-joining dendrograms and correspondence analyses.

The population genetic relationships have been compared with the history of the classical populations living in the area. A revision of the historic postulates would have to be undertaken, particularly in the cases when genetics and history are overtly discordant. HLA genomics shows that: 1) Greeks share an important part of their genetic pool with sub-Saharan Africans (Ethiopians and west Africans) also supported by Chr 7 Markers.

The gene flow from Black Africa to Greece may have occurred in Pharaonic times or when Saharan people emigrated after the present hyperarid conditions were established (5000 years B.C.).

2) Turks (Anatolians) do not significantly differ from other Mediterraneans, indicating that while the Asians Turks carried out an invasion with cultural significance (language), it is not genetically detectable.

3) Kurds and Armenians are genetically very close to Turks and other Middle East populations.

4) There is no HLA genetic trace of the so called Aryan invasion, which has only been defined on doubtful linguistic bases.

5) Iberians, including Basques, are related to north-African Berbers.

6) Present-day Algerian and Moroccan urban and country people show an indistinguishable Berber HLA profile.

  1. Fine. Keep your eyes open for the Moorish Science Temple guys. You may be interested to hear what they have to say. They are numerous in the States. I am in Canada currently, but I also live in the States.

All said Dave, you do not feel like a bad guy. You sound somewhat young though.

Keep on searching and questioning. If you are sincere you will see the answer…

    Jahdey

  2. Guys all this conversation is pointless.Did you read what Cavalli wrote? We should take into account anthropology and historical data to interpret any findings in genetics.Yes,the DNA findings confirm what is already known. There is the same DNA all over mediteranean coast,in Greece,Sicily, south Italy, west Turkey, etc because there lived Greeks. They had colonies all along the coast. All the genetic studies will show the same.
The DNA of Greeks inside the cuntry, far from coast is different because there lived mostly Slavs,Albaninas etc. There is high R1a haplotype frequency in Greece, about 12% due to slavic population.Everything is clear.

What we need?We need studies on ancient Greek skeleton DNAs,both mt and Y and then comparison to DNA of modern Greeks.Since we lack these studies, everything else is just an assumption.(maybe strong indication, however an assumption).
For example similar studies showed genetic similarity between ancient Phoinices and today’s Lebanese who live in the same region.Let’s see what the same kind of study will show for Greece.

Of course all these problems are highly prejudiced and have consequences regarding racial issues,so an independant, objective study is what needed and very difficult to achieve, sth not sponsored by any state or racial organization.
Let’s see if people are brave enough to let such a study develop in Greece and the whole balkan region.Corpses will tell the truth.

  3. Ok for one where did you get the false assumption that ancient Greek skeleton DNAs,both mt and Y and then comparison to DNA of modern Greeks were not done? Do you know how many such studies have been conducted which proves ancient Greeks and modern Greeks not only are the same BUT part of the Caucasian cluster? Obviously not when you make such false statements. Modern studies have constructed Greek genetic trees revealing a strong degree of homogeneity between Greeks from different geographical locations. Median networks revealed that most of the Greek haplotypes are clustered to the five known haplogroups and that a number of haplotypes are shared among Greeks and other European and Eurasian populations. Within the loci studied, the genetic composition of the Greeks indicates a significantly low level of heterogeneity compared with other European populations. Modern scholars and scientists have supported the notion that there is a racial connection to the ancient Greeks. Luigi Luca Cavalli-Sforza, Paolo Menozzi, and Alberto Piazza, have found evidence of a genetic connection between the ancient and modern Greeks.[79]
