N’Ger the Mother of the Niggers: Rasta Mystics – Jide Uwechia

Some have argued that Nigeria is a word rooted in the expression “Nigger Area”. This may be true. It might have been the intention of those that stamped the name on the area to indicate that it was the provenance of the Niggers who were enslaved in the Americas.

Many find the word Nigger very objectionable. It is deemed to import everything lowly, vile, slimy and shifty, and unintelligent. It is said to be some word invented by the so-called white man to dehumanize the Africans, the Moors, the Ethiopians, the Kemitians etc. Yet is that really the truth?

Flora Shaw, the illuminati girl friend of so called Lord Lugard the first miltary-colonial administrator of Nigeria, had chosen the name Niger-area for the amalgamated provinces of sections of Benin Empire including Oyo, Olus and Igbos; with the Sokoto Empire.

The Berbers and N’Ger

For thousands of years, the Berbers lived beside the great river which encompasses the western land of Ethiopia. The river was the source and sustenance of their lives amidst the threatening menace of the great sahara desert which had been encroaching on their habitat over the past thousand years.

The Berbers loved and venerated the river due to their belief in its benevolent powers. In its overflow it brought silt deposits to the earth that enriched the farm fields. It gave them water for drinking, washing and purification. It provided abundant fish as a source of protein, it was a great highway tearing through the inland districts of the western Sudan, through Guinea, Mali, Niger and Nigeria.

The Berbers who lived beside the bank of this great river called the great spirit that activated this force of life all the way from Futa Jallon in Guinea to Bonny in Nigeria the great mother, or mother Ger; N’Ger.

The Provenance of West Africans

N’ger is the name of the mother of those of us who spread and bred on the left and the right banks of her wide canal. Like some cosmical fish that came into the waters of N’ger, then climbed onto land and multiplied. They cover the lands now known as West Africa. They also are known all over the world as the children of N’ger. The so-called West-Africans, the famous Niggers of the old.

The Acts of Apsotles in Chapter 13 verse 1 mention one “Simeon that was called Ni-ger, and Lucius of Cyrene”. Simeon the child of the goddess Ger, mother Ger or N’ger. Simeon the one of the earliest recorded Niggaz (sons of N’Ger) in history.

Hon. Marcus Garvey told us that “Nigger” was not a bad word. It is the true name of our ethinc affiliation. It is the true designation of our cosmical origin and spiritual provenance.

The West Africans are the children of the great goddess N’ger who owns the river known by her name River Niger.

The Many Names of Mothe N’Ger

In western Nigeria, among the Yorubas and the Edos, the owner of the River Niger is known to be a female goddess called mother Oshun. Mother Oshun is no other person but mother N’ger. In the town of Oshogbo, there is a great shrine dedicated to the goddess Oshun, the owner of the River Niger.

Among the Igbos, and the Igalas through whose home the River Niger flows, the great goddess who owns the river and its life force is variously called “Obi-na-Mili,” “Aga-di Nwa-anya” (“She who lives in the water,” “the grand lady”).

Some call her “Onishe”. There is a shrine to the goddess Onishe right on the bank of the River Niger in the Eastern Nigerian town of Asaba, right opposite another city appositely called “Onitsha.”

In the city of Onitsha, there is also a shrine to the great goddess “Onishe” this time known as “Ani-Onitsha”. This shrine is also right on the Bank of the River Niger.

Mother Onishe, Ani-Onisha, Agadinwa-anya, and all other various forms of her manifestations are no other than the great lady mother Ger, the mother of the Niggers.

And so it goes on and on right across every community in Africa that lives besides her blessed banks. N’Ger is honoured without exception by her different local praise names and now as a result of the expansion of modern trade and cultural networks, by her more universal berber praise-name, mother Ger.

Some call her Mami water, some call her Olokun or the wife of Olokun, some call her mermaid, some call her the Queen of heaven.

In ancient Kemit (Egypt), Isis was known as the head child of Ras. The West Africans insist that Ra first settled on their land before moving on to Egypt. The goddess and the gods of Egypt all live today hale in the interior of west Africa, still. Isis in west Africa is identified with Oshun the goddess of the River Niger. The Yorubas of Nigeria, the Edos of Benin, the Igalas all tell that Oshun was the first child of Obatala, the one he taught the secret to the creation of life and magic.

The Kemitians had a similar story concerning Isis and how her father Ras taught her the very secrets of creation and magick. In addition, Isis was hailed by a variety of name in Kamit including, “our lady” “our mother” “the queen of the coast”, “the queen of the sea”.

It need not be over-emphasized that Isis is definitely identified with Oshun in the Yoruba cosmology. Oshun is the owner of the River Niger and is still hailed with all the ancient titles she was known with in Egypt and these include, “the queen of both banks”, “the queen of the seas”, “our dignified lady”, “our mother”.

Today’s christians call her mother Mary the mother of Christ. Images of the black Virgin and Child is found all over Europe, in ancient churches and grottoes. It is the insignia of Isis and her son Horus which was subsumed by the church under the new rubric of Mary and Christ. But the provenance of that woman in the bible, known as Mary, the mother of god, is the same as Isis, the great lady of the river, who is the same person as Mother N’Ger, the Queen of the Niger, the mother of all Nigaz!

The Roman Catholics call her Mary. They built one of the biggest Cathedral Churches in the world in the city of Onitsha, beside the traditional shrine of “Onishe,” or “Ani-Onitsha”. This Roman Catholic shrine to Mother N’Ger, Ani-Onitsha is situated on the bank of the River Niger in Onitsha and it is called “Our Lady’s Cathedral Church”. It is supposedly dedicated to “our lady of hosts”. The Roman Catholics also built a school besides the church and called it “the Queen of the Niger” primary school.

There are those misguided Africans who afraid of their own legacy and stories violate the mother and call her the devil. They daily face the burning judgement of their own souls for a disconnected circuit is incomplete and useless unto itself and to no one else. It takes two forces to create and sustain, the male and the female polarities. If the female polarity is not recognized and honoured, there will be imbalance and dysfunctionaities which produce their own objective consequences.

Yet, all those of my Nigaz who know and venerate the Mother, all who have known her unconditional love and affection, all who have received and acknowledged receipts of her compassion and benevolence, we all call her Goddess, Mother N’Ger, the mother of the Niggers, the owner of this world.

Blessed Emmanuel of the Bobo-shanti mansion of the Rastafari movement told us that there are three countries in present day Africa with sacred names. Seven letters all appear in the names of those countries and their people are mandated to a holy office. Those countries are as follows:

Jamaica

Ityopia

Nigeria

Jamaica is the land of Jah-men and Jah-wombmen.

Ity-ops is the child of Jah, the father of black people, the king of humanity.

Nigeria is the land of N’ger, the mother of the black race. The Niggers!

My Nigaz who were taken down into bondage from the land of Egypt into Babylon (the western world).

Be still, reflect and meditate on this teaching!
