Is the Eritrean president Isaias Afewerki a marked man? – Rasta Livewire Reports

The Eritrean president Isaias Afewerki, is now a marked man…a man marked for elimination by the international political cabal.

On the 13th August 2009, he barely escaped a serious assassination attempt mounted by elements within his own Eritrean Defence Forces, as a marks man just failed to snuff out his life on the Amara-Massawa road in an area called Mai-Atal.The attempt took place on the 13th August 2009, around 4:00 PM.

According to news-report, the sniper marks man was a former combatant of the Eritrean war for independence, freedom fighter, First Lieutenant Daniel Habte Yihdego. He was killed on spot in hail of exchange of fire with the president’s bodyguards.

Isaias Afewerki’s vehicle was badly damaged by several sniper shots.

Following the failed assassination attempt, President Isaias Afewerki is faced with the horror of making out friends from foes as even trusted members of his own elite forces are now plotting to take him out.

President Isaias Afewerki, was hailed in the early 1990s as the ‘hope for Africa’ by the western leaders who backed his rag tag army to break up the unity of Ethiopia so as to weaken Ethiopia perpetually by cutting it off from its access to the sea.

Afewerki has breached the faith, hope and vision of his newly independent nation, if truly it ever had any of those ideals. His main focus these days is on entrenching his stranglehold on power. The preoccupation of his palace court these days is how to eventually get rid of him.

There have been no elections for 18 years, since the independence of that country. Free speech is not tolerated and any signs of opposition or deviancy are heavy suppressed.

Afewerki is also believed to be involved in several ongoing regional troubles including Somalia. In recent years, he fought a border war with Ethiopia; then he has sent his army into action against the Sudanese army as well.

United States, a former patron of Afewerki has accused the president of Eritrea with arming terrorist fighters in Somalia.

Meles Zenawi in a speech delivered in Ethiopia last week, mused momentarily about the eventual elimination of Afewerki. European powers have been making murmurs about charging Afewerki with war crimes and human rights abuses through the international criminal court.

The vultures are flying around.

Whereever there is carcass, there so the vultures gather. Time will tell. Rasta Livewire will keep monitoring the situation…

  1. Rasfafarian Views,
A mighty and honest leader of a Country is always under a watch of those cowardy and puppets of Masters. All those who are selfish and slaves of their colonisers but not faithfull for their people wants to show their wilderness and animalizm behaviour. However, it is be a dream who ever wants to get the king of the bees in order to get the hanny. We the people of Eritrea honestly we know our leader who is he and waht is he doing for his people and what vision has to his country unlike the some other African Leaders who got a vision of themselves and their relatives.
Our Leader doesnot sell our country to masters, our leader share the wealth to his people not even for himself. All the Westersn has honestly witnessed his the only and only one leader come to be An African Symbol.

  2. It was Muslims like Idris Awate who fought against the Amhara Christian telling Eritreans what to do on our own land. I suppose you’re not familiar of how the nationalities of Eritrea wished to stay to ourselves, or that the Tigray/Amhara were imperialists. The fact is, because you wish to worship a man. How ridiculous. Can you go against us? Or the Oromo? Annuak? Ogaden Somali? Christians, Muslims, traditional African faiths live side by side. Oh, by the way, you do realize it was Abyssinian warlords who was cooperating not only with Italians, but with “Babylon”. “Ethiopian” rulers cooperated with Italians by turning Eritrean rebels who sought refuge to the whites. Or the fact that many Eritreans were fighting in Battle of Adwa against Italians.Too much pot people.
