NATO says 77 foreign troops have been wounded in a suicide attack against an American base in eastern Afghanistan.

The military alliance says a Taliban truck bomb exploded late Saturday at the gate of the base during the attack on Combat Outpost Sayed Abad in Wardak province.

NATO spokesman Maj. Russell Fox on Sunday said all the international troops at the combat outpost are American.

The truck bombing came hours after the Taliban vowed to keep fighting U.S. forces in Afghanistan until all American troops leave the country and stressed that their movement had no role in the Sept. 11 attacks.
