USAfrica, the multimedia networks and international public policy center based in Houston, Texas, will host its two-day (August 8-9, 2008) inter-disciplinary event on the landmark literary work 'Things Fall Apart.' The novel was published in 1958 by Chinua Achebe, the acclaimed and undisputed father of modern African literature. Event will feature leading scholars on Africa, African literature and scholarship, new voices in the world of writing/literature, public policy executives, leaders in government and communities, book publishers and retailers, teachers, students and librarians, information technology specialists, dramatists and artists.

Event will feature leading scholars on Africa, African literature and scholarship, new voices in the world of writing/literature, public policy executives, leaders in government and communities, book publishers and retailers, teachers, students and librarians, information technology specialists, dramatists and artists. The USAfrica Harvest of Achebe convener is Chido Nwangwu, Founder & Publisher of USAfrica, AchebeBooks.com and USAfricaonline.com, first African-owned U.S-based professional newspaper published on the internet.

Call for Papers/Presenters:
USAfrica and AchebeBooks.com are currently seeking papers, abstracts, panel speakers and proposals. Papers will be accepted from all disciplines and demographics. Priority will be given to papers dealing with trans-generational issues and themes related to Achebe's Things Fall Apart and Achebe's works. Deadline is June 20, 2008. Submissions are planned for publication in the special USAfrica Harvest of Achebe, www.AchebeBooks.com, and on the forthcoming website www.AchebeThingsFallApart.com. Format of files: Simple Text or Microsoft Word .doc files only (pls do Not send .docX files). Abstracts should be 800 words or less. You may attach multimedia/video/audio files and identified photo(s).
