Amazing ancestry of “abairu” of Ankole revealed – By Dr Adyeri Muchori

Amazing ancestry of “abairu” of Ankole revealed.

I was inspired to write this article following the statements by the president of Uganda to the effect that “the people of ankole do not need a king.” The president of Uganda is a well read man and given the growing controversy of these Ugandan “kings”, he must have a strong reason for coming out with such a statement.

In the first place, since museveni is a professed advocate of east African federation, we have always wondered why he brought back majimboism in 1992 by crowning the kabaka of Buganda. We in Kenya, and at least we know that this is the same position of our Tanzanian brothers, strongly disagree with these kingdoms and in the event of an East African federation, it is clear to us in Kenya that this shall be the first institution to go away.

In time, we have learnt to respect that the president of Uganda was created with a unique mind and only God knows how this man reasons things out, because in his own way his positions make sense.

In this particular case, we have been pleasantly surprised to learn that museveni has some deep historical facts on his fingertips and they appear to play a role in his clear rejection of a kingdom status in ankole. For the benefit of those who are interested in history, we provide below only part of this background information, revealing some of the amazing facts of the history of a people that has been concealed for long, and therefore with both hind and foresight, some of the reasons behind the president’s firm position. It all appears to revolve primarily around museveni’s firm commitment, belief and fear of God. Relatedly, we now realize that this is also because of museveni’s shared ancestry with the indigenous people of ankole.

President Museveni stated in the Sunday monitor of 11th April 2010, the people of ankole have been successful without a king. Now if you fill in the blanks of what the president is shrewdly avoiding saying; it is that;-

“These people suffered when a king was imposed on them after the 1905 agreement. When Uganda became a republic after 1967, the abairu of ankole were released from bondage and since then, Bushenyi their nucleus has since grown to become a model district. Can you compare this performance to that of greater Mbarara district which had the benefits of patronage from the imposed king and the colonial government?”

Reason; The “abairu” in ankole are actually descended from “Hebrew”, and an analysis of their current fortunes explain why only the strong abiru Christians are successful on this world. It is their destiny; if the abairu (Hebrews) honor only God, he rewards them; if they serve any other lesser gods or kings, he does not bless them.

The history; you see, most of the people of present day ankole were not part of it until Ankole was forced onto them after 1900. This includes present day Bushenyi, Ntungamo, Rukungiri, and the greater Rukiga (kabala & kanungu). These were all part of Mpororo kingdom and were added to ankole in a manner similar to the way Buganda was expanded from Bunyoro land.

We shall explain to assist those who have forgotten their history. Buganda was rewarded by the colonial government for its role in subjugating Bunyoro, by the allocation of large chunks of Bunyoro to the Buganda kingdom. These were the counties of Bugerere, Buruuli, Bulemeezi, Singo, Buwekula, Buyaga, and Bugangaizi. Don’t get me wrong here; we are not taking these counties out of Buganda but merely stating how they came to be part of Buganda. This history is well recorded here in Kenya since most of the process of the colonization of Uganda was headquartered here. Let us leave this at that, otherwise we shall open many wounds (esp., the fact that Buganda and the colonial government committed something close to genocide in these transferred counties, and forced people to convert from their allegiance to Bunyoro).

After being successful in Buganda, this principle of rewarding cooperative kings was also applied to Ankole.

Now in the case of Ankole, this had never been a strong monarch or kingdom really; the Luo lineage here was so embarrassingly weak that they had even failed to manage their own personal household affairs, a situation that we understand persists in the Ankole royal families to date. In the past, this situation was so bad, that the royals had to stop marrying from the abashambo / abairu groups altogether because these bashambo girls / women have a very strong character and could not be fooled around by weak promiscuous men. We gather from oral history, that there is a mushambo queen who killed a royal, and thereafter this incident, the royals realized that it was in their best interest to avoid that group altogether and find another that could be subservient. That is when they started marrying principally from the bahima groups. These people were predominantly cattle keepers, but what was important at the time is that this group posed no risk to the weak monarch.

Such was the weakness of the Ankole monarch. Anyway, Ankole kingdom, through its own weakness and lack of authority, had by then lost many grazing lands (let us call then counties) to a stronger Buganda. This included the lands of Kabula, Kinoni, Karungi (now called Kalungu) (all these went as Buddu / Masaka region), and Bwera (Sembabule & Mairu – Gomba). Unfortunately, the “king” could only grumble quietly and politely lest he gets a thrashing from the all too powerful Buganda – remember that Buganda had White mercenaries / allies! With guns! So who could touch it, scold it, or complain about its excesses! Everyone neighboring the Buganda kingdom had witnessed the happenings in Bunyoro and the example was a clear message to any who challenged Buganda’s position.

So when the British went to ankole, they pacified it by giving it almost the entire loose confederation of Mpororo kingdom and that was more enough. This included Bushenyi, Ntungamo and Rukungiri, and would have included Karagwe; only that according to the partitioning of Africa, the land below this parallel that marks that border between Uganda and Tanzania had been allotted to Germany.

In addition to being given a large kingdom to rule over, the weak monarch in Ankole was aided with expatriate administration from Buganda to shore up their rule over the old and new kingdoms. This is the origin of the Baganda settlers in many parts of ankole.

Now just tell me; where the Ankole monarch was coming from, what more could they want or ask for? They had just jumped from almost collapse to paradise! So they went to sleep and really have never understood the fundamentals of managing society. Speke to any of the royals and all you can hear is some reference to their rights to have their monarch restored and nothing about the people’s well being.

But when you speak to the people, what you shall hear however, is that following the advent of colonization and balkanization with ankole, the indigenous people were now being referred to as abiru! That was the surprising turn of events; the presumably harmless bahima had brought up reference to these indigenous people as abiru. So where did the term come from?

What the royals of ankole did not realize was that these presumably harmless bahima have a long heritage themselves. These hamites of ankole also trace their ancestry to the Luo, and all of these together from Cush (– son of Ham, son of Noah) from present day northeastern Sudan, where they had an extensive kingdom. And their affinity for power dates back to those days when Cush ruled over Egypt. This shall be the subject of another day but this detail of migrations and empires is well recorded in African history and in the bible (Genesis; 10 all).

Now, it transpires that that during the time when the Hebrew were slaves in Egypt, the reigning monarch was Cushitic (read “Luo”). History; According to Egyptian archeological findings (reference to Microsoft Encarta encyclopedia 1999), the Hebrew people were a group of tribes of Semitic stock that, according to (Egyptian) tradition, migrated from Mesopotamia to Palestine during the 2nd millennium BC. Some scholars, however, trace their origin to the Wilderness (that is, the Sinai) rather than to Mesopotamia.

These two views may both be true because according to the bible (Genesis 11; 31 – 32) Abraham the founding father of the Hebrews came from Mesopotamia.

And then for the second view, the biblical story of the exodus is quite well known to everyone; the Hebrews moved to Egypt, where they were enslaved. When released from bondage in Egypt under the lawgiver Moses, they journeyed through the Wilderness and thereafter, under Joshua, conquered and settled in Palestine. It is during this exodus time that there were offshoots of the main group that either did not leave with Moses, or deserted the main group somewhere in the Sinai desert. This group went south eventually settling in the hinterland of what is referred to in the bible as Ethiopia but we know as Africa.

So it is quite established that the term Hebrew is applied in the Bible to Abraham (see Genesis 14:13). What most people don’t know is that the term “abiru” / “habiru” is actually the same as “Hebrew”. The Encyclopedia states – and this is most amazing part – that;-

“Although denied by some scholars, the Hebrews are the people called Habiru or Habiri in the tablets found at Tall al ‘Amârinah, Egypt; written about 1400BC, these were found in 1887. This assumption coincides with biblical tradition; the Amarna correspondence, however, makes no reference to the origin or ethnic character of the Habiru. In Genesis 40:15, Joseph explains to the Egyptians that he had been kidnapped from “the land of the Hebrews”; in Exodus 2:6, the daughter of Pharaoh recognizes Moses as “one of the Hebrews’ children.” The implication of these sources is that in early times the Israelites were known to foreigners as Hebrews. In later times the Israelites applied the name to themselves, as in Jonah 1:9.

So you now know how the bahima knew that these habiru are supposed to be their slaves – because that is what they were in Egypt. The bahima knew that these habiru were there slaves in Egypt, and believed they still had to be overlords over them. Wrong. Because subsequent to the Egyptian episode of their lives, God had broken that bondage of slavery, provided that the Hebrews / Habiru stick to a certain formula – observe the Ten Commandments, and the most important ones being the 1st two commandments. Once these are fulfilled, then no one could be allowed to lord it over the Hebrews / abiru.

Effectively and to cut a long story short, the abairu of ankole, who are descended from the Hebrews, could only be successful if they – like the Jewish brothers – recognize their relationship with God the almighty as per the commandments delivered to Moses. i.e., if they recognize the sovereignty of God the almighty who delivered them out of bondage, and if they bow to no other gods. If they do this, God blesses them. If they don’t, then tribulations and damnation as promised in the commandments.

Fast forward; when Moses delivered the Hebrews he told them to serve no other God. So, given his knowledge of the facts, when Museveni restored kings in Uganda, he was clear in his mind that his cousins the abairu shall not be put under any other king but God. (Exodus 20: 1 – 17, and Deut 5: 1- 21). Recall that Museveni is very well remembered for his strong Christian values when he was young. Whilst he claims to have disagreed with his religious leaders somewhere down the line, he has never renounced his commitment to Christian values and principles – especially the Ten Commandments. In addition, the president has all the statistics in front of him; ordinary accident reports and even intelligence reports have already shown that most of the people who break commandment number 2 by visiting shrines and honoring those pagan gods are always getting into problems.

On the contrary, it is also interesting to note that a lot of the emancipation of ankole has come from Christianity; most of Ankole rejected all their pagan gods in-mass and embraced Christ. If you speak to all the learned elders of Ankole proper (Bushenyi, Ntungamo, etc) you shall discover that most of them went to school because of the churches, the catholic establishments and their provision of free schooling facilities. You shall also discover that that these same people were denied bursaries by the Bahinda / colonial government. A very good case in point was the late Proff Enoch Rukare. In Ankole, the cross over to Christianity was so serious / absolute that most of the names in ankole are now Christian / faith based; Mugisha, Mujuni, Tumwine, Tugume, Kangume, Twinamatsiko, etc. Compare this with Buganda where the names still refer to the pagan gods; Mukasa, Mugerwa, Mpanga, Walugembe, etc. incidentally, it has been proposed by some Christians that this pagan worship in Buganda is the main reason why Buganda is the source of most of Uganda’s troubles, and the reason why baganda die the most in causalities such as accidents.

All this is in addition to the fact above that after release from bondage in 1967, the abiru have demonstrated that they can rise from ash to a strong force to reckon with. So even when you look at museveni’s cabinet, after heavily rewarding Buganda with many positions, most of the positions from his home tribe are actually given to the abiru group, not to the bahima where he is supposed to come from. Well, err sort of; because he actually is descended from both!

Yes; the abiru / Hebrews are museveni’s cousins. Many people have heard by now, that the great leader of Uganda is of very mixed heritage. Well, this appears to be true; and he therefore owes no specific allegiance to any group and can afford to be a national leader. How do you explain the fact that the president’s own brother, general Saleh, is better trusted by the acholi people – simple; that blood is thicker than water. That shall be the chronicle of another day, and only if the president himself prompts us to come out.

So if only most of these facts had come out earlier, then the fortunes of Uganda would be very different from what it is today. But it is never too late for anything; as you can see, the facts about the ancestry of abairu are just beginning to fizzle out of the archives of history, explaining why the abiru people have given birth to some of the most industrious people in the world. It is really a blessing to be one of the abiru / habiru / Hebrew; the people can really work and you can now understand why the success of coffee in Buganda’s plantations only happened after expatriate labor came from these people. You can piece the rest together.

Next time we shall talk about the intercessors for Israel. Did you know that it was not by accident that Uganda was thought of as a possible home for the Jews in diaspora; and that it was the next best location they could accept? And that the difference is that they had selected a place in current day southern mubende district and refused karamoja? Did you know that the Uganda chapter of intercessors for Israel is one of the strongest chapters in the world, and that its strong pillars are all of abairu descent (though with mixed blood but this still makes them descendants of Hebrews)? And that these people are mainly found in the Watoto church, formerly KPC? Did you know that Museveni has privately admitted to prayer groups that he is struggling with corruption and has asked for their help? Did you know that through their prayer it has been revealed that Museveni may be the last president of Uganda and only president of expanded East Africa (including Southern Sudan and Somalia) before Armageddon?

Cest la vie!

    Muwanga,
The paper covers some very interesting
subjects. However it is obviously centered around
Anti-Bugandan propaganda. In his zealous attempts to
demonize and isolate the BaGanda Dr.Muchori
    continually demonstrates his prejudices through
a series of flawed and hypocritical statements.

Dr. Muchori at first blames the BaGandans for
supposedly aiding the British in their conquest
of Uganda. Then he praises the Bairu for their
loyalty to European Christian churches while
blaming the BaGandans for being “Cursed”
    for maintaining African tribal traditions.

Dr. Muchori accuses Musevini for appeasing
    the BaGandans with Government cabinet
appointments and then accredits his tendency
to appoint Bairu to the same posts as some kind
of spiritual awareness as to the blessings of the
    Bairu.

Musevini does not allow the Bairu to appoint a
King because he is afraid that the monarchy would
come to dominate his own people the Hima.Remember
the Bairu account for almost 70% of the Ankole while
the Hima are only less than 20%. The Hima(Tutsis)
did call the Ankole Bantu farmers Bairu. as Dr.Muchori
correctly identifies a past Hamitic kinship between the
Hima and the Luo. Most Bairu are not Luo descended
as Dr.Muchori seems to suggest but are Bantu. The
name Bairu= Ba the Bantu tribal prefix attached to all
Bantu tribes and the word Iru meaning Black. This still
exists in the Rangi(Langi) Bantu language of Tanzania.

I am sure Dr. Muchori is aware of the BaGandan Israelite
origins which (Hebrewisims of West Africa) describes them as
having a line of royalty descending from King David.

I regret the insinuations by my article that I would like to down play the role of Buganda. Clearly, their contribution to the history of Uganda is great.

However, some of the nasty points of history are normally avoided. When they are mentioned, they obviously create discomfort. It is a matter of time; and in this aquarian age of revelations, these facts shall be know by all.

kind regards and comments appreciated. Dr Adyeri.

    • Ishaq Al-Sulaimani says

      Dr.Adyeri Muchori,

It is understood that tribal conflict and animosity
runs deep throughout the African continent. The Hutus
view the Tutsis as their historic oppressors and further
justify any action taken against them as a means of
liberation, while the Tutsis view themselves as survivalists
fighting for the right to exist. The Luo in Kenya view the
Bantu Kikuyu in Kenya in much the same light as they
view the BaGandans in Uganda regarding them both as
beneficiaries of European colonialism. The BaGandans
have deep suspicions of Luo claims for expansion,a history
of the Luo which predates the British. The tragic fate suffered
by BaGandans at Luwero Circle has reinforced their fears,
suspicions and stereotypes of the Luo.

Can a ” Aquarian Age ” really be spoken of in Africa at a time
when African tribes find it more appealing to make peace and
overcome racial obstacles with Europeans,Arabs and Asians
when in fact they have no intention of making peace with each other.
Should an East African League even be discussed when tribal
animosities remain on the verge of conflict.

It is time for Africans to overcome tribal animosities and learn
to respect each other and co-exist on the very same African Continent
to which all tribes belong. Tribal conflict and animosity has always existed
in Africa in the same manner that it has existed on every continent
around the world. However as you correctly stated the British created
strategies of tribal conflict, destruction and containment from which
all tribes in Africa continue to suffer.

British colonialist strategies may appear in relation to have benefitted
certain tribes. However colonialist strategies and the promoting of
tribal conflict only helped the British. When the British arrived in
Africa they stated that , ‘ the Bagandans held the highest form of
civilization in all of Africa.’ This statement indicates that the British
intended to use the BaGandans in order to achieve their colonialist
aspiration but it also indicates that the British understood the
necessity of containing the BaGandans as well. Isn’t it strange
that the British created entity of Uganda (which was obviously named
in relation to the BaGanda tribe) of which the BaGanda are the most
populous tribe have never had a MuGandan President. Obote(Luo),
Amin(Kakwa/Lugbara), Musevini(Hima) etc. The British created a policy
to limit BaGandan access to the armed forces. This policy still remains
      in tact.

      Who are the British???
The British acknowledge descent from the Biblical Gog. The Holy
Qaran along with both Old and New Testaments acknowledge that
Gog and MaGog are oppositional entities who were given an ordained
reign of wickedness. The Prophet Ezekiel revealed that Gog and MaGog
will stand in opposition to the Lord at the end of times. The word Ma(Me)
in the Hebrew(Aramaic) means “From” and therefore Ma – Gog is the
one who came from Gog. The United States which came out of Britian
are the nation of Gog. Gog and MaGog are aligned with Rosh Meshech
      (Russia,Moscow) and Ashkenaz/Togarmah(European Zionist Jews)
      at the end of times.

In order for Africa to be truly free, the reign of Gog(England) must come
to an end. Mugabe is trying to break the grip of Gog on Zimbabwe, while
Nigerian rebels who attempt to sabotage the gas pipelines of Gog are
being raised up to ultimately drive them out of Nigeria. Like the stubborn
Pharaohs of Egypt, Gog and MaGog do not want to let the people go!!

      1. The idea of a Jewish State in Uganda was a British conspiracy.
      2. In opposition to British rule the BaGandans created the only
anti-European(Pan-African) Church known as that of the ” Malikites”

You can read about this in my essay which is posted on Rastalivewire
      concerning ” British Zionism” ( Ishaq Al-Sulaimani)

Below is one of many web-sites which explains the British origins from
      Gog.

The Tutsis were part of the
      Hamitic Oromo from Ethiopia.
Yes, for the most part they are
      clearly distinguished from the
Bantu tribes such as the Hutu,
      BaGanda etc.

i MUST point out that according to the Israelite covenant made with the Most High, the Israelites are not to just keep the 10 commandments, but THE WHOLE LAWS, statutes and commandments. It is an eternal covenant that Christianity nullifies. Christianity has a man/god – this is antithetical to the covenant and as long as Israelite people are following it, they will continue to suffer the curses of breaking the covenant as it is stated in Dueteronomy 28!

What commandments we are able to keep while we are outside the land promised to us, must be KEPT! We cannot function in the sacrifical laws as we have no temple & the law states that certain things are only to be carried out in the place where the Most High established & put his name ( Jerusalem). The JEWS ARE NOT OUR BRETHREN- they are Edomites & Gentiles/Europeans who follow the religion of the Pharisees!

They function in the historic role of Edomites toward Israelites= NATURAL ENEMY! They played a dominant role in our enslavement & are exploiting every black group in Afrika as we speak through theft of resources and exploitation through the UN, IMF, WHO, & World Bank, all of which they control. Do NOT trust them. Do the research. Beta Ysrael ( Ethiopian Israelites) who migrated have been FOOLED.

When it comes to telling the history of Baganda, there has always been no transparency at all. People think that if they write lies then this will one day become the truth. I read comment above where someone is claiming that “Baganda are Isralites”. May be the kingdom could have some linkage with the nilotes who intern migrated from ancient Egypt etc but there is no cultural resemblence placing Baganda to the ancient Jews. The Luo/Lwo have cultural linkage to the ancient Isralites todate. They need to do some research about their culture etc. Abiru means Seven in the Lwo language of Acoli, Langi etc. I found “Bwanika Daniel, Uganda’s ‘true’ religious history after 120 years” talking about the kingdom both of Buganda and Bunyoro Kitara established by Luo/Lwo people.

  8. muwanga says

    Baganda are definately not nilots/luos.

The Ganda lingua is very different from Luo. Our folk tales are different. Our norms are different.

In fact you should study and find out the meaning of the word Aman in ancient egypyt, Manyi, Maanyi, in Ganda, Mathi in Swazi, Maazi in Zulu, Mandla in Zulu & Swazi. Then understand the word Mandwa in Ganda. Look at Amen and Amin.

After that guess where the englsih words Man, Mandate, Mandatory, came from.

    Then think really deep.

I am curious about the iru or bairu. The name is very simular to Ébr which we know as hebrew today. The word is made up of Éb and r. In the strong’s concordance words H5645 (H5743) and H7217 combine to make up the word if you break it down. are there any written material out there about the iru history?

Great, learning never ends. I believe the Ankole Kingdom is being rejected majorly because of its Luo origin for Instance even the last king of Karagwe region was a Luo called Nono a common name in Acholi (Luo) todate who even faced rejection and his heritage line and rule ended as well the first King of Ankole was Rwot Onono. Luo where therefore the first colonialist in East Africa and rejection of colonialism is not new. Recently I read in a magazine stating the spirits at Bujagali Falls where moved to a new allocated place by a luo spiritualist but a Bantu spiritualist is claiming the work was not done and he is the only one who can do that. Luo has been mentioned and is being mention in much of the African History and that means some thing. A kingdom is a collection of people from various origin and Buganda as a Kingdom is a collection of almost all ethnicity in Africa but the kingdom is Luo in origin e.g The KOOKI Clan in Buganda are the Koch Clan in Northern Uganda (Luo). The word ma’ means therefore the same as in Luo E.G Ma Kampala. I think God has blessed every one of us who sense, are cosmic. No one ethnic group has been blessed more than the other and never shall that be, the satisfaction of our greed as mortal man should never let us in any way think we are blessed. Let us seek freedom and Harmony.

Thanks for the reply, its important as all we may say here will be and is history for generations to come.
Linquistics and culture evolve over time and faster with migration however in this case, what i can tell is that the invasion by luo was more spiritual and the installation of kings in this regions where done in a divine way and that is why in Acholi Luo today a king( Rwot) is not chosen they are accepted to work by the spirits of the Clan a foreigner can not succeed. To cut the story short the luos where overwhelmed by their subjects and the only way to maintain this kingdoms established was to share with the people and embrace their cultures as well as follow the unbroken luo traditions. Luos are very welcoming, they are more graceful to foreigners and will keep a foreigner more than their brothers unless the foreigner has intimidating characters and or hidden agenda. Lastly the luos among the bantus lost their language e.g the lamogi the Clan of Muloki the late King of Busoga, the clan of former Vice president Kazibwe they have luo origin and to some extend their accent are luo, One time I tried to inquire into detail and I found out that when this people are speaking Lusoga they can be distinguished. There are a number of clans among the Bantu as we know who are Luo.
It’s a sensitive Matter but if we could become open minded and accept our history the truth could come out. I refer you to read more on Title: LUO ORIGIN OF CIVILIZATION. That could you to examine more.

The Interlacustrine people in the great lakes region are with regard Uganda are interlacustrine Bantu. That means they are genetically not Bantu as the people of Southern Africa are . If we are to take any sense of realism in these things is that first the Hamitic kingdom was there having come all the way from Eitrea present day Habshar. Then made its way down to Ethiopia then Sudan right into Uganda to found the highly organised and stratified Kingdom. Then came the Luo-Babito who intermarried the Hamites and brought the well organised clan systems with them. So we are a mixture of all Nillotics(Luos) or LWOS and Hamites. The Tutsis are by and Large mostly Hamite In Bunyoro the Tutsi based clans are Bahuma,, In Ankole Bahima, in Buganda Bakooki, and some members Kimera Lineage especially the Banna Buddu people in Masaka who border Kiruhura. The darker Hamites or Nilo Hamites in Bunyoro and Ankole and are called Basiita the browner ones (Hamites) are reffered to as Bahinda those are Hamite-Hamite. Hamitic kingdom was quiet advanced and should not be ignored. There are many cultural and linguistic trates shared between ,Oromo,Eritreans, Tigrinya and Huma, Hima, Hema and Basiita and Bahinda people. Cultural norms which I could go into at great lengths. The Empaako in Bunyoro and Toro is largely of Luo origin. Like the name of my dear Luo brethren Adyeeri Muchori. Adyeeri in Runyoro means With Gods grace!!!! Kalema is a name in Luganda its equivalen in Luo that is in Lugbara would be Alema. The King of Tooro has the name title Olimi in Runyoro. In Acholi, Olum meaning chief.
Sorry you are only “culturally” Bantu not genetically Bantu hahahahahaha. I do not think you would want to be either. The Bantu in Southern africa are not as tall and long limbed as us. We are blessed to have Luo blood and Hamite blood and some cushitic blood all of us. So when you look at the people up North and in western Kenya Kisumu,,remember you share a blood link/tie with them and not with the Southern africans.Hahaha

Can you back up your thoughts with DNA details.

The Bantu migration was south to North of Africa, Arabia and into Europe. After that migration was back into North Africa, west africa. Middle east to North Africa, middle east to East Africa and then back to Southern Africa.

Thats why you find Ngozi in Igbo means blessing, In Zulu Nkhosi means God, Gosi means King/chief in Setswana.

It should be noted that araukungiri,Kabale and Kanungu have never belonged to Ankole kingdom even after the entrenchement of British ruke in Uganda.Infact Rujumbura chieftancy ( Present dyay Rukungiri) was under the rule of Bashambo clan-Makobore as a ruler when the british came, parts of Rukiga and Ndorwa(Preesnt day Kabale) were ruled on clan heads basis(Decentralised states)Mukombe and Nyindo are some of the great clan leaders of that time. However its true that the same areas omnce belonged to Mpororo kingdom which streched vrom Rwanda through southwestern Uganda and sourthen Tanzania. The colapse of Mpororo led to new system of leadership based on clan heads until Uganda became a british protectorate.Even after independence the districy of Kigezi( Present Kabale,Rukungiri&Kanungu remained remained free from any kingdom leadership-decentralised while other communities such as Buganda,Bunyoro,Ankole&Tooro had kings, however due to public demand, they were requested to democratically nominate ceremonial leader(Rutakirwa-Bikangaga-1962) he became the first and last of his tittle up now Kigezi has remainded highly decentralised and with its people very capitalistic in nature.

    Dr.Muchori,

Just to correct you, You seem to know less about the Kingdom of Ankole.
1.Kabale and Kanungu have never been part of Ankole kingdom whether before or after British colonization. If you don’t agree with this, bring your evidence.
2.Museveni is not mixed as you state.Prove me wrong.
3.You talked of successful Bairu christians, are Bahima christians not successful? For your information there has never been an Archbishop of Uganda from Bairu but we have seen some from Bahima. Can you explain how this Happened?? Do you know the God you are talking about??
4.You talked of Bashambo clan to mean Bairu clan. Are you serious you know what Bashambo means??? prove me wrong if Bashambo are only “iru” can you tell me one bashambo iru woman married to ankole king and the name of that king?
5.You talked of forcing biru people of Bushenyi, Ntungamoetc to weak ankole kingdom. Can you tell me who were the kings of those areas before annexing them to Ankole?
6.Can you tell me why the British would support such a weak kingdom against the strong? Do you know of any bairu who opposed the British rule and may that could be the punishment?
7.In my opinion, you are a biased researcher and probably you graduated from Musa Body University- Katwe. Is that true???

    Thanks.
