Muslims and Christian leaders of Nigeria together in solidarity

The CIA, the chief of all the western intelligence agencies had predicted the break-up of Nigeria in the Year 2015. The country was ripe for such divide and conquer operation. The people were fractured along ethnic and religious lines.

As the year 2011 ended, a wave of unexplained sectarian violence hit Nigeria. The government was certain it was a foreign inspired and sponsored attempt to exploit the historical rifts between the different religious communities, mainly the Muslim north and the Christian-dominated south.

The source of the violence appeared to be rooted in some obscure religious extremist group popularly known as Boko Haram, which appeared to have connections with the fake Al Qaeda groups of North Africa and Afghanistan.

Unprecedented bombings of security formations, international organizations, places of worship, played out to the horror of Nigerians.

Then, as January 1, 2012 came by, the subsidy crisis arose, as the President unexpectedly announced almost a doubling of gas prices across the nation.

Shock and anger was palpable. Nationwide strikes shut down the country for five days. Boko Haram made more threats of sectarian attacks against the Christian population of Nigeria, even releasing a video tape, rumours of weapon imports some confirmed, some unconfirmed, hints of wars.

So the wise men and women of Nigeria began their nightly chants. And the children of Jah began their daily affirmations. The Gods of Nigeria arose. Even if they call it a country where the best is yet to come, it will always be a place where the worst will not occur.

Miracles happened. Tempers cooled. Problems resolved mysteriously. CIA and IMF remain confounded.

It seems that rather than break apart the nation, all those crisis appeared to have unintentionally brought people together. In their anger about the removal of the fuel subsidy, and their horror at the suicide bombs of Boko Haram fake-Al Qaeda, an unexpectedly positive consequence occurred. For the first time, Nigerians united in their pains and shock and expressed their outrage. The world heard that roar and took notice. The government quaked. The CIA took affright. The conspiratorial rats took a dive into the shadows. The children of Nigeria united in an unbreakable bond of unity and love.

Over the last few days in Kaduna – normally one of the most volatile regions – thousands of Muslims and Christians came together wearing T-shirts and holding placards with slogans such as “Stop Fighting” and “Nigerians Unite”.

Muslims and Christians marched shoulder to shoulder in rank, protesting the fuel price increase. Christians and Muslims ate together, reasoned together, saw each other as brothers and sisters. It was reported that “When Muslims prayed, Christians formed a human chain to protect them and vice versa. Hundreds acted out a similar scene in the northern city of Kano on Monday and two days later in the capital, Abuja.”

On Friday, a special prayer session is being held in Lagos with Christians and Muslims coming together.

Over the past four years, disatrous events have been occurring in different countries in the south without fail, in the month of January. The tsunami of Indonesia, and Sri Lanka, massive floods in Pakistan, wars and regime change in Egypt and Tunisia and Libya, earthquake in Haiti.

They came for Nigeria this time. Very bad news in January of 2012. Civil strife was their plot. But they discounted the Gods of Nigeria. The Gods our ancestors, our mothers and fathers. They don’t sleep. They don’t die. They cannot be conquered. They protect Nigerians. We the keepers of tradition, shall ensure that the Gods who protect Nigeria, get their daily devotions from us daily.

Whosoever the Ancestors bless, noone curses. Nigeria will be greater and greater and greater.

Long Live Nigerians!

  1. Boko haram are toothless bull dog and satanic agents who capitalise on insincearity of the greedy leaders who pretend to love Nigeria. But destroy the country and the innocent youths who are the leaders of tomorrow for their wicked generation to continue. Message for the wicked. If they prosper now their end will not be well and their generation will know no peace.

  2. What an inspiring article. I would love to visit Nigeria and to feel the African sun on my head and my ancestral soil under my feet. You are certainly an inspiration to all Africans around the world!
