You are cordially invited to the grand opening of an art exhibition, Philippe Dodard: Spirits of the Caribbean, on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. at Africa House on 50 Washington Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760.

Philippe Dodard is an internationally acclaimed Haitian artist who lives and creates from his home in Haiti. As one of Caribbean’s leading contemporary artist, his success demonstrates the visionary power of Haiti visual art that has continued to command international attention. The paintings in this exhibition draw substantively from Haiti’s cultural roots. Collectively, they capture the dynamism, vigor, and restless spirit of a people who taught the world the true meaning of freedom. Africa House is honored to showcase Spirits of the Caribbean and celebrates an artistic vision that grasps the essence of forms.
 
Please mark your calendar and join us for this opening.  Bring a group of friends and inform everyone you know who appreciates art, in general, and Haitian art, in particular. A gallery talk with the artist commences at 5:00 p.m. immediately after the opening reception.
 
The next day, Sunday, October 19, 2008 at 11:00 a.m., a round table discussion follows on Haitian art and the art of Philippe Dodard at Africa House, 50 Washington Avenue, Endicott, New York 13760. The panel will be made up of experts in the field.

Dinner is Moi Moi, lamb, organic salad with slices of mango, puree squash and carrot soup, served with South African wine, Ethiopian coffee (gourmet), tea and dessert.

Noted musicians, flautist Donna Wood and jazz pianist Gene Cothran will perform live.
