Sophisticated interior design always incorporate African art as a hallmark of wealth, distinictive taste and elegance.African art seamlessly blends with all design concepts. It is ageless, colorful, timless, full of life, and simply superb to say the least.

The Essence of Africa House

The Africa House multiplex is the newly redesigned corporate headquarters of Africa Resource Center, Inc., and home to Akégo and Sahara galleries, AfricaResource.com and Onira Media Production. The galleries promote the art and culture of Africa and the Diaspora. African art, designs, and motifs have long been used by artists, designers, architect, institutions, and individuals many times without recognition and acknowledgment. It formed the foundation of modernism and the art of Pablo Picasso, Edgar Degas, Wilfredo Lams, Henry Moore, Paul Cézanne and others. After inspiring modernism, Africa art and design entered the global mainstream culture connoting sophistican and elegance.

Today, television shows like Fraizer about two well-off psychologists utilized African sculptures as background props, while leading fashion designers such as Calvin Klein and Oswald Boateng use adinkra motifs for distinct flair, and top architecture publication like Trends that featured high-ends homes with sculptures and masks. Building a Cultural Institution

Africa House differs from other galleries in upstate New York because of its strong educational component. It offers information and knowledge secure in the belief that full appreciation requires an understanding of the artist’s creative objective and philosophy. Its Africa-centered understanding makes Africa House much more than an art gallery. This shared value was a major underlying design principle that was inspired by Ubuntu, a South African concept of community and relationship. In essence, Ubuntu embodies the ideal that informs the basis of community building, its conduct, and link to the world. By situating Africa House in a once thriving commercial district, we hope to become that link and catalyst of change. In this sense, Africa House will serve as a destination for Africa and the Diaspora art.
