This is the day
that spirits come out to play
as Masquerades in drag.
This is how life is lost forever
with ice surrounding
the heart born in fire.
This is the year
that I will never forget
if I live through it
and live to be a hundred.
My life will always
be remembered with these eyes
that have seen things
meant for ghosts and monsters. |
