My father lost me
when He went away.
He left me
cold and hungry.
By the light
of the August Moon
I crawled on my knees
towards the sun.
In search of him
whose likeness I do not bear.
My father threw me up
and threw me out
of his house and his heart.
Leaving my shadow behind.
By the light
of my mother's halo,
I walked out of the
house of regretfulness.
To find a fate I did
not demand. A fate
I could not live without.
My father looked for me
when he was shut out.
He looked for me at the gate
of the place where I call home.
By the light
of a Shepherd's lamp,
he ran around,
Like a mad man,
calling for me, pleading for mercy.
With a forgiveness that sprung
from God's love for me,
I opened my crystal window
to pour cold water
on his bald head.
Reminding him of his cold hands
on my young flesh
ages ago when he was the king
and I was blameless. |
