Abort!

|
(For the hawk)
luminous eyes sharp!
Windows of the sky pierce
As powerful wings stealthily glides,
Watching, navigating-bidding it’s time to strike,
Below – fluffy, yellow hatching busily pecking,
Unaware of danger lurking
Suddenly-mother hen’s high pitched clucking
Sends young chicks scurrying
In a matter of seconds
Into a ready spread pinion
Concealing prey from the deadly invader
As the hunter aborts,
Sheathing razor-sharp claws
Leaving behind choking clouds of dust
To plan yet another return! |
